FabianZone Trio feat: Marsalis & Vint

FabianZone Trio feat: Marsalis & Vint
2017 is the relaunch of the Christian Fabian & Fabianzone Trio featuring Bill Vint on tenor sax and Jason Marsalis on drums:

Christian Fabian, long time bassist for the Lionel Hampton Big Band, announces the relaunch of his trio with an All Star line up of Bill Vint, who is a Boston area first call multi instrumentalist, on tenor saxophone and the one and only Jason Marsalis on Drums with special guest appearances possible, presenting an exciting mix of original funk, swing and groove songs, featuring Christian Fabian this time on upright bass bass with new music and songs from his successful trip CD "Fathers Day Jam" and "Do For You?" both on CAP Records in NYC.

"Firmly rooted in the past, with a vision towards the future---a very enjoyable ride!!"-Mitchel Forman

"Christian Fabian is one of the most versatile bass players on the New York scene today. This album demonstrates his passion for the groove, tasteful compositions and pure musicality-The Mason Brothers

"Had I not known Christian Fabian for a number of years, I may have been hard pressed to adequately express the qualities of this recording. In this current project, however, I can hear Christian's optimistic, jovial, caring and fun loving personality shining through in the music. I must admit to having further insight by virtue of being Christian's band mate in the Lionel Hampton Orchestra for just over twenty years. I can testify that this talented bassist has learned one of "Hamp's" most important lessons, and that is, no matter how much skill you attain, don't forget to have fun with the music! Christian let's his light shine with skill and joy."-Lance Bryant

diabate

Boubacar Diabate
with Jeli vocals and guitar leads with sultry grooves made up of an orchestra of guitars, bass, djembes and drums played by masters of the arts. Bolon, mbiras, kora, keyboards and other modern instruments all rendering the traditional songs by today's best musical talents in the tradition of griot songs and instruments of the Mande people.

West African griot singer and traditional multi-instrumentalist, Boubacar Diabate, from Bamako, Mali comes from the Mande lineage and has combined traditional rhythms with modern influences to create his own style of contemporary Malian Jeliya music. A songwriter, storyteller, guitarist and vocalist, Boubacar brings his original compositions and arrangements to deliver powerful vocals and distinctive guitar melodies, with a unique sound likened to the Kora, a traditional harp made from hardwood and calabash.

In Bambara and Manding, Boubacar Diabate sings and plays with his group SambaLolo, creating a full spectrum of traditional to contemporary Malian music, fusing Blues, Jazz, Reggae and Bluegrass. He sings of our common experience of love, life and humanity in the age-old tradition of Griot storytelling through song.

Melody Stanford Jazz Combo

Melody Stanford Jazz Combo
A cozy evening of holiday jazz classics presented by the Melody Stanford Jazz Combo. With a style that reveals a deep appreciation for the Great Ladies of jazz, audiences often describe Melody's performances as "mesmerizing," a "voice of a thousand colors," with a vocal acumen that is "right on the mark," as described by Boston music legend Bo Winiker. Melody grew up singing in church as Pentecostal minister's daughter in the town of Santa Maria, CA. Her passion for jazz solidified while attending college near Chicago. While largely self-taught, her performances are anything but ordinary. Featuring Andy Lantz on piano, Miki Matsuki on drums, and Francisco Anes on bass.

Likho Duo

Likho Duo
Noé Socha - Guitar, Harmonica

Cliff Schmitt - Upright Bass

Likho Duo was formed in the fall of 2016 by Italian guitar and harmonica player Noé Socha and upright bass player Cliff Schmitt. They are an acoustic group and their repertoire consists of blues standards, original music, and a couple of traditional Italian songs. They perform regularly in New York City at venues such as Petes Candy Store, Terra Blues, Precious Metal, The Bitter End, Barbes, & Hometown B.

Noé Socha, 26, is a guitar and harmonica player from the small town of Carpi, Italy, who now resides in NYC. Noé began his studies at Conservatorio Vecchi Tonelli in Italy at age seven, where it was discovered he had perfect pitch. He was classically trained on xylophone, piano, cello and guitar. At age 12, at another private music school, Musicology, a guitar teacher introduced him to blues music by teaching him Sweet Home Chicago. Noé liked it so much he had his Dad get him every blues record he could find. In 2004 Italian newspaper La Repubblica released a series of six blues CDs and that led Noé to discover many blues artists. Influenced by artists such as Bob Dylan and Neil Young, and blues musicians Mississippi John Hurt, Muddy Waters, and Lightnin Hopkins, Noé has created his own signature sound. He pairs a fiery guitar technique with virtuoso harmonica playing, channeling the sounds of the Mississippi Delta with a touch of Hendrix-esque flavor.

Noé is a graduate from Berklee College of Music on scholarship and has received many awards including the Jimi Hendrix Award for the colleges leading guitarist and the Billboard Magazine Endowed Scholarship presented to the colleges top student. Noé was also mentioned in Rolling Stone about his standout performance at the Berklee Commencement Concert honoring Willie Nelsons career. Noé has had the great honor of performing and recording with Nona Hendrix (Labelle), Vernon Reid (Living Color), and multi-Grammy winner Javier Limón, and has also toured extensively with Grammy award-winning artist Paula Cole.

Cliff Schmitt, 46, started playing cello at age 12, then switched to electric bass at 15, and started playing upright bass at 18. He attended the University of North Texas studying Jazz and Classical music. His introduction to the blues was through his fathers record collection. Some of my earliest memories are of listening to Eric Clapton on 8-track in my fathers van, says Cliff. My dad had mostly blues rock records, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, Bob Seger.  When I was a teenager, radio stations in Texas started playing Stevie Ray Vaughn, so when I started playing electric bass at 15 my band was performing a lot of SRV covers. When he was in college he worked for an R&B singer named Al TNT Braggs, who had written songs for Bobby Bland and Aretha Franklin. This was his first real professional gig.

Cliff Schmitt has been based in NYC for the last twenty years and has toured the world with Blues Music Award nominee, Michael Powers, as well as jazz singer Curtis Stigers. Cliff is the house bassist at Terra Blues in NYC, where he performs regularly with some of the best blues artists the world has to offer.
